During the 1950s, Frank Horvat settled in Paris and accepted varied commissions.
Several series were born from these experiences, including one devoted to “Paris by day” and another to “Paris by night”. The first one, created mainly with a telephoto lens, explores the physiognomy of the city, its architecture and the movement (of cars and crowds) that animates it. The second one, formally akin to
documentary photography, reveals the Paris of nightclubs, cabarets and strip clubs.
This aesthetic pursuit, rarely showcased in the context of Horvat’s prolific work, is unveiled by a curated selection of 60 modern and original prints.
